I can roll the driver back to the Microsoft basic driver and it is OK until you try to play some silly little Steam game. I tried using compatibility mode on the driver for Windows 8 (8.1) and that didn't work. I didn't check the driver it was using before I upgraded to Windows 10. The aggravating thing about this is the PC worked OK in Windows 8.1. I gave the PC back to my grandson but a shutdown and startup reinstalled the Windows provided AMD driver. Then found a forum where it suggested to roll back the driver and then use settings to prevent Windows from updating the driver.

More Googling and found people that said to download and install an older driver to fix the problem. At that point it detected the AMD driver was newer than the basic driver and reinstalled it. I rolled back the Windows installed AMD 8400 driver to the Microsoft Basic Display Driver and it was smooth as silk UNTIL I rebooted the PC. I rebooted normally and looked at device manager. In safe mode the mouse was smooth as silk. I found several supposed fixes but one diagnostic site said to boot into safe mode and see if the behavior continued to happen. Off to Google I went and was surprised that at the number of Radeon HD 8400 problems people were having. Then for grins I removed the mouse driver and connected a USB wired microsoft mouse and it still stuttered. Of course I thought it was the m310 mouse driver and downloaded the latest logitech driver for the mouse. As soon as the initial install completed I noticed the mouse pointer stuttering and jerking around on screen.Īs I used the PC longer I noticed it wasn't just the mouse stuttering but any program opened would also pause or micro freeze.
